Open Door delivers a holistic range of mental health therapeutic programmes and services created by young people, for young people and we are looking for a talented and passionate individual to fulfil an integral role within the charity, and help them achieve their ambitious aspirations over the years to come! 

Do you think you could take on the responsibilities of Trustee to help drive Open Door be a charity of national significance?

The Role 

The role of trustee is a hugely important one as you will have the scope to influence and shape the future of the organisation and the way in which it supports communities both regionally and nationally. Duties will include:
  • • Ensuring that the organisation complies with all governing documents, charity law, company law and other relevant legislations and regulations.
  • • Attending meetings and contributing actively by giving firm strategic direction
  • • Setting overall policies, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets. 
  • • Promoting and safeguarding the reputation of the organisation,
  • • Ensuring the financial stability of the charity.

The Person 

We are looking for creative, collaborative and passionate individuals to help propel this charity forward into the next exciting phase of its journey. 

While the board is well represented in some areas, we are looking to help broaden diversity and the charity is committed to achieving better representation. We strongly encourage applications from people across groups that are underrepresented and individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds. We are also looking to plug skill gaps in certain areas and would be interested in hearing from people with experience in the following areas:
  • • Finance and accountancy 
  • • HR and people 
  • • Clinical improvement 
  • • Safeguarding and governance

The time commitment for this role is about 0.5-1 days per month and Trustees attend 4 board meetings per year. There is also a strategy half day and a dinner each year, as well the opportunity to be involved in subgroups and many other aspects of the charity. All interactions are a mixture of virtual and face to face in the charity’s home in Birkenhead.
